EVENTS THROUGH THE YEAR
LIBRARY & SCHOOL WORKSHOPS
PHOA workshops enable us to share art, music and Spanish with schools that do not have budgets available in the arts or language programs. Our work through the libraries allows us to reach a diverse group of students in order to share with them the unique PHOA art and music programs. These workshops help to develop students’ personal growth including confidence, empathy, resiliency, and self-expression.
SUMMER CAMP
Summer camp plays a significant role in boosting a child’s growth and development. Although kids have varying tastes and preferences, PHOA makes summer camp exciting regardless of your kid’s interests. Our Summer Camp helps develop essential cognitive, social, and emotional skills. Summer camp gives children extra freedom because they're more flexible and relaxed. Free play, free art, and free music is essential to kids' developmental process. Children will explore their imagination. In addition, playing has a tremendous positive impact on your child’s creativity. Other benefits of free play include improving self-esteem, social skills development, healthy weight, and friendship. The showcases that we have for all audiences became successful for our formed next generation of artists in the community.
WINTER AND SPRING RECITAL AND ART EXPO
Recitals and concerts we make at the end of each semester as well as art expositions are a platform to showcase in front of an audience students skills dedicated and creative. Integrative projects and performances are the main part in student formation. During these events the students come together and communicate in the same thought and participate in the same action, which serves to unify a group of individuals. When individuals come into close contact with one another and when they are assembled in such a fashion, a certain 'electricity' is created and released, leading participants to a high degree of collective emotional excitement.This impersonal, extra-individual force, may transports the individuals into a new, ideal realm, lifts them up outside of themselves, and makes them feel as if they are in contact with an extraordinary energy.
CREATIVITY DAY
Creativity Project is dedicated to exploring chamber music; improvisation and collaboration; composing and performing; and instrument use. The culmination of the Creativity Project is Creativity Day, a day committed to learning how to get the most out of the master classes and for the student to reflect on how important it is to get that opportunity and how to use it for personal and ensemble benefit. We have partnered with Lyrica Baroque, a non-profit with a focus on developing chamber music with the youth of New Orleans, to carry out this unique day for the city of Baton Rouge. As an inclusive organization, we want to pay homage to the Melting Pot of Louisiana culture. Creativity Day will feature master classes by selected guest musicians and culminate with a chamber music exhibition featuring ensembles from Baton Rouge and the surrounding area from both private and non-profit organizations and public and private schools.
