The Importance of Exploring Music at an Early Age
Often as a mother of two musicians and as a teacher, many people ask me why I am always so incessant on recommending to all mothers that their children have contact with music at an early age.
Lessons learned through my experience are the reason I recommend to immerse your children in the musical world as soon as possible. One major caveat is that it must take place in a relaxed and fun environment with the right methodology.
At some point, we've heard about the benefits of music. Though, not everyone can really fully comprehend the benefits. Perhaps it is that music and culture, in general, is sometimes relegated to the background. On the other hand, it may be that they are put off by the rigidity of musical programs for the study of a instrument.
The benefits vary and can be seen at the physiological level (brain rhythm, circulation, respiration, digestion, metabolism, muscle tone, immune system or neuronal activity). Also, children who are stimulated by music develop a strong bond that stimulates their emotional intelligence. On a psychological level, your child awakens and develops emotions and feelings that can change her mood in addition to fostering self-control with a continuous musical stimulation.
Numerous studies, related to the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, create a direct relationship between the stimulation of children through musical Intelligence and the development and capacity of the child for the assimilation of different languages in parallel. Therefore, music also involves pre-verbal preparation-- helping in the development of mother tongue and facilitating language learning.
However, if all the above was not enough, I want to comment on the most important gift of music is to bring people closer. That is why the child who lives in contact with music establishes a more harmonious communication as well as an improvement with the bridge of communication. It is a bond so special that every mother and father is able to experience it with their sons and daughters. The musical stimulation is intended for the child to love and live the music such that it contributes to his emotional education as a human being more sensitive.
